The Nomad`s Land

So earlier, when someone asked me about AKB48, I composed a very calm answer.  2012 is the year in which I am trying to be a mature adult by trying to not let my emotions get in the way of formulating well thought out and intelligent opinions.

HOWEVER, I just can’t do it and I must tell you HOW MUCH I HATE AKB48. I hate them. I hate them all so much, my blood actually boils when I see them

Today, I was watching CNN (is NOWHERE safe?! Et tu, CNN?) when an AKB documentary came on. I was just about to change the channel to something less awful, when the owner of AKB… I guess you could call him ‘manager’, but he is a creepy overweight, old guy who routinely makes these girls dress up in skimpy underwear. so I am going with ‘owner’ on this one - made a wonderful, affirming statement. He said, ‘these girls work so well because none of them are talented at anything. None of them are great at dancing , singing, acting. They’re really cute though!’

Gross. ‘Being Cute’ is not something you should aspire to be, girls. Intelligence, honesty, curiosity, … those are things you should focus on. Aspire to be interesting. Aspire to be well read, well versed, well educated. Being untalented, but skinny and cute, prancing around in bikinis, is not a sign of success. It is a sign that sexism is alive and prevalent.
