Thinking of moving to Sapporo! But HOW do you survive the winter???

See below re : winter boots. VERY IMPORTANT.

Actually, you’d be surprised to know, that Tokyo and Sapporo are pretty much the same , temperature wise. Last weekend, in Tokyo, I felt colder than I had felt in Sapporo, all year! I think that the snow insulates the city pretty well. When I went to Seoul for Christmas three years ago, the temperature in Korea was higher than Sapporo, but it was bitterly cold and I remember thinking that I was going to freeze to death and die surrounded by KPop. Lord knows, there are better ways to go.

All you really need are layers : jerseys, jackets, scarves, gloves, jumpers, hats. The usual winter goods. There are also tons of hand warmers and body warmers (that you stick on your clothes under your jacket) that act like small heaters.

Also : hot chocolate, electric blankets, kotatsu (electric tables), lots of soup and stew and curry, tea, hot water bottles and boyfriends.
